Business Developer - Exeter

upto £28k per annum - Perm - Renewable Energy

A well-established Heat Pump Manufacturer has an excellent opportunity for a candidate to join their Contracting Division as a Business Developer, covering the South West, based either at the Head Office in Truro or the Exeter Office, there may also be some home working offered for this role.

Main Purpose of Role:

The intention is that the successful candidate will generate leads for projects that will be followed up by a team of Contracting Sales Managers covering the same region. It will be necessary for the Business Developer to work closely with the Sales Managers to ensure that all client accounts are well managed, and enquiries are responded to quickly.

Key Tasks: 

  • Identify potential clients such as developers, social housing landlords, commercial building owners and their key decision makers.
  • Discuss the advantages of using ground source heat pumps
  • Identify key influencers (M&E engineers, consultants, architects)
  • Ensure follow-up actions are taken and full information is recorded on CRM system
  • Responding to questions and requests for further information as they arise.
  • Periodically represent company at trade shows, exhibitions, conferences, industry events and Government sponsored events to generate further business development opportunities.
  • Generate leads for projects and work with the sales managers and other colleagues
  • Increase client base within the South West.
  • Compile weekly reports for the Area Sales Manager (South West)
  • Formulate and agree Key Performance Indicators with line manager
  • To undertake training and to assist in training other members of staff as required.
  • To contribute to any appraisal process actively and positively

  • To undertake such other duties as may be required within the general scope of the job.

Person Specification:

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to develop our already strong relationships in the South West of the UK. You will be focusing on the Residential sector in both the public and private markets in retrofit and new build development settings.  The ability to communicate through all types of medium to a varied range of stakeholders to all levels of company positions is essential and is at the heart of the role.

Experience and skills required include:

  • Experience of working in the heating industry or sales is not essential, however you will need to demonstrate experience of communicating in a previous or current work setting
  • Educated to Degree level
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Reasoning. You will be able to articulate the advantages of using ground source heat pumps to interested parties in numerous different situations.
  • Adaptability: You will need to demonstrate that you can adapt to situations which are out of your day – to – day scope.

  • Basic Salary between £25,500 and £28,000 DOE
