Carbon Consultant - Winchester

An excellent opportunity for a Carbon Consultant to join an extremely reputable environmental and energy management consultancy. Our client has a team that consists of technical professionals which include Environmental Consultants, Energy Engineers and Project Managers who all specialise in Climate Change, Net Zero Carbon, Sustainability, Environmental Compliance, and Project Engineering.

Carbon Consultant overview:  

We are looking for an experienced carbon management practitioner with either a background in carbon consultancy or having worked in a carbon management role within an organisation.

You will be working at the core of our established team of consultants supporting clients with carbon reporting, GHG verification and developing decarbonisation strategies that will support our customers in their journey to Net Zero Carbon. As a team member, you will have to provide technical input on several projects whilst being responsible for your own projects. Therefore, good project management skills are essential.

We are looking for a passionate and motivated carbon practitioner with a strong technical background who can work independently and as part of our team, whilst developing excellent relationships with our customers.

Some Duties include:

  • Develop GHG Emissions Reports and Carbon Footprints to support clients with annual reporting and monitoring carbon performance. For example, Net Zero Carbon, SECR, Mandatory GHG Reporting and other sector specific reporting (such as Councils, Universities, NHS, Real Estate).   
  • Undertake GHG Verification and Assurance audits and write technical reports in accordance with the GHG Protocol and ISO 14064.
  • Provide Net Zero Carbon support including the completion of GHG Emissions Baselines, GHG Emissions Reduction Trajectories and development of Net Zero Carbon Strategies.
  • Support customers to set credible Net Zero Carbon and GHG Emissions Reduction Targets, familiarity with Science Based Targets (SBTs) is preferable. 
  • Provide technical guidance on carbon management, Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions reporting, data management and alignment of carbon performance within wider sustainability or ESG strategies. 
  • Write high quality technical reports that provide detailed analysis of carbon performance and decarbonisation projects and deliver meaningful recommendations for our customers.  

 

Do you have a relevant combination of the following skills / experience?

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a relevant subject such as Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Carbon Management or related discipline.
  • Previous experience as a carbon consultant (or relatable role) within either a consultancy or as a dedicated environmental/carbon practitioner within an organisation (public or private).
  • Professional membership with a relevant organisation such as the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA), Institute of Environmental Sciences (IES) or similar.  
  • Proficiency with Microsoft software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams), Excel, is essential. 
  • Support with professional development and funded training in support of your role.
  • A full UK driving licence is essential for this role. Travel is expected as we work with a range of customers across the UK, mainly in but not limited to Southern England and Wales.

Remuneration:

  • Basic Salary between £30,000 - £35,000 DOE
  • A generous annual performance related bonus scheme
  • Company pension scheme: 3% employer contribution (matched by employee)
