Environmental Projects Assistant - Woking

£20k per annum - Perm - Renewable Energy

Our client owns and operates low carbon and renewable energy networks in Milton Keynes and Woking, supplying district heat, cooling and electricity to large commercial and public sector customers, and approximately 1500 residential units. The business is generating assets that include nearly 10 MW of gas fired CHP and over 1.8 MW of solar PV installations.

The role’s purpose is to assist in the planning, delivery and reporting of individual environmental based initiatives as part of a team leading on the delivery of the business sustainability objectives. This position would suit someone looking to start their career within the environmental sector whether you are a recent graduate or switching sectors.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Involved in preparing project proposals (including applications for funding), monitoring progress and ensuring successful delivery of objectives within agreed budgets and timescales.
  • Identifying, procuring and co-ordinating partners and contractors to implement specific project deliverables.
  • Collating data and information for reporting on project proposals, progress and outcomes to local authority partners and other stakeholders.
  • Collection and analysis of data relating to sustainability KPIs.
  • Handling project budgets and financial activity including payment of invoices, awarding small grants, and monitoring expenditure.
  • Providing guidance and advice to customers through a range of media
  • Identifying new funding and business opportunities to help local residents
  • Ensuring customer contact and project databases are regularly updated
  • Delivering marketing campaigns effectively
  • Attending events to promote relevant projects and network with potential partners.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience of delivering small projects
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Excel and databases and how to draw conclusions from data
  • Excellent communicator
  • Ability to analyse and draw useful conclusions from large amounts of data
  • Strong English writing skills
  • A strong interest in sustainability
  • Educated to degree level or at least two years’ experience of working in a related field
