Head of Energy & Environment - Woking

upto £80k per annum - Perm - Renewable Energy

Our client owns and operates low carbon and renewable energy CHP networks, supplying district heat, cooling and electricity to large commercial and public sector customers, and approximately 1500 residential units. The business is generating assets that include nearly 10MW of gas fired CHP and over 1.8 MW of solar PV installations

Role Purpose:

This senior role will deputise for the Chief Operating Officer and in his absence will be responsible for all operational activity relating to the Energy (sales, procurement and generation) and Environmental aspects of the business.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To be accountable for the delivery of the company’s energy procurement and sales for both domestic and commercial customers, including contract negotiation with new customers and providers.
  • To be accountable for the Environmental Policy activity of the Group, including all work to help deliver a local Strategy, the Environmental Projects Team activity and the Group’s Carbon Reduction Commitments  
  • Delivery of Energy and Environmental Services: Managing the Energy Contracts Manager and the Environmental Projects Manager with their respective teams, with overall responsibility for their performance
  • Systems and Procedures: Overall responsibility for a programme of projects that optimise business processes and drives efficiency
  • Recruitment and Development of staff
  • Negotiating supply contracts
  • Reporting performance statistics and Management of both teams

Qualifications and Experience:

  • An understanding of the UK energy industry with experience in commercial energy procurement, existing and new energy markets and retailing of energy.
  • Experience of working within new and emerging energy markets
  • Commercial experience of negotiating energy supply contracts, PPAS, energy procurement and national grid services such as Balancing Mechanism and Capacity Market
  • Experience of leading in the delivery of corporate sustainability goals
  • A demonstrable understanding and experience within the Environmental Management and low carbon sector.
  • Experience in operating within environmental management systems
  • Relevant degree or equivalent qualification
  • Member of Energy Institute or other relevant professional body (preferred)

Remuneration:

  • Basic Salary up to £80,000
  • 25 Days annual leave plus Bank holidays
