Our client is a Renewable Energy market leader in the fast-growing heat pump sector offering a wide range of services from design, service and installation to owning and operating the systems. They have some of the most experienced design and installation teams in the UK and have completed hundreds of projects since their inception.

The company was established with the goal of becoming the number one provider of renewable heating in the UK. A new joint venture with institutional backing provides an exciting opportunity for rapid growth as heat pumps become the technology of choice for the UK’s net zero ambitions.


Role Overview

The Project Manager will be responsible for the delivery of a ‘first of its kind’ heat network which includes, but not limited to; large scale civils works, pipelaying with fusion and butt-welded pipework which vary in size from 1000mm to 40mm; the management and delivery of plantroom structures; The mechanical and electrical fit out of the plantrooms.  The role requires the candidate to be hands-on with the delivery of each package with a focus on delivering our works to the highest standard. This an exciting opportunity to be part of a long-term project with multiple phases over many years.

Project Overview

This location has been inspired by the English Garden City movement of one hundred years ago which produced enduringly popular, well-designed and well-built places which are still thriving today.

This is a new development encompassing 6,000 homes and community spaces, will be delivered with all of its properties supplied by a carbon-free heating and cooling network – making it the most energy efficient system of its kind in the country.

Our client is delivering a first of its kind innovation for the UK. The system uses a network of underground pipes to transfer heat from the nearby reservoir to heat pumps which will deliver sustainable heating, hot water and cooling to the properties and businesses in the area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Directly manage engineers and sub-contractors to deliver the project scope of works.
  • On-site Health & Safety.
  • Delivering quality and compliant installations.
  • Project wide coordination of works to programme.
  • Attend contractor meetings and progress meetings.
  • Coordinate timely procurement and delivery of materials and equipment.
  • Work to set targets and budgets.
  • Project and commercial progress.
  • Execute project variations and commercial reporting.

Key requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a supervisory role on large scale civils projects, specifically with pipelaying, fusion welding and butt-welding experience.
  • Good communication skills to liaise with the client team, sub-contractors and other on-site contractors.
  • NVQ’s or similar
  • Excellent time and resource management skills
  • SMSTS certification
  • Hold a valid CSCS card
  • Clean drivers’ license
